Taylor

Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who was able to transcend over from country music to mainstream culture, and has become an icon of the pop world. She also conquered all over the world in the process. Swift removed her roots in the country like they were a second skin to reveal that she was perhaps the savviest populist singer/songwriter of her generation someone who was able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal and also perform in the opposite direction. The skills she displayed were apparent in some of her first tracks, including the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her second album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift could identify her true identity and gain an audience that was large. Fearless was a huge success and not just in the US and six of the singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around all over the world. Swift soared to the top of her game when she released Speak Now. The next three albums she released, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) and Reputation, the popularity of Swift grew, and she found herself in a world of pop music in which it became clear she belonged. She was on top of the charts even when she dropped her style with her sibling albums, folklore and Evermore in 2020.
