Her parents are Harvey Welker a Native American father and Julie Welker an African-American mother. She is the daughter of both a Native American father as well as an African-American mom. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School, located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, in the year 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she received a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker is happily married for more than 20 years with John Hughes who is a famous marketing director at Merck Philadelphia. They are parents to two kids. They started an affair in 2014. John was her husband, and 4 years younger than her. Their relationship was developing so well, they decided to take this to the next level. They got married on March 4, 2017.
