Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to twelve poor children who would grow up with them eventually. She learned early how to get out of the difficulties she faced thanks to her incredibly vibrant imagination. Before she began learning to write and read, she was singing her own tunes. At the age of 8, she got her first guitar. When she was 11 years old when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. In the same year she made her debut album Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in high school but she dreamed of performing on a bigger stage. Following her graduation in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to join his syndicated show at this point. Parton was offered the gig in 1967 and signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of The Grand Ole Opry in 1969. She resigned in 1974. The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her own songs such as Joshua Coats in Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton wrote I Will Always love You to Wagoner after their breakup. It reached no. 1. for the first time in 1974.
