Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the United States. She's worked as an editor since the year 1995. She founded Feminist Frequency which is a website which features video and posts on the representations of women in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer who has won prizes for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a site for education that examines women's roles in pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. The site also has the executive director. She's committed to removing stereotypes about women and how they are portrayed in popular culture. In addition, she works to raise the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and those who are marginalized. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in social thought and politics from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaking. Sarkeesian delivered speeches to the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, a University student who has been fascinated by issues that concern gender and feminism since a considerable period of time. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s with a dream to develop an online series which would explore gender representations in video games. But, she was the target of cyber-bullying. The attack did not stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered her determination as feminist media critic. Her many notable contributions in the field of feminist have been recognized by numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for many years and founded Feminist Frequency. The non-profit educational organization studies women's roles in the pop-culture narratives.
